NIFT Entrance Exam 2021 – National Institute of Fashion Technology

National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) has started the online application process for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Eligible candidates can apply for the exam on the official website nift.ac.in till December 31, 2022.

National Institute of Fashion Technology has 16 NIFT campuses located at Gandhinagar, Bhopal, Jodhpur, Kangra, Kannur, Rae Bareli, Shillong, Chennai, Bhubaneswar, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Patna, Srinagar, Bengaluru and New Delhi.

NIFT Entrance Exam

NIFT Entrance Exam for Admission to Bachelor of Design and Bachelor of Fashion Technology Programs will organize. The application process is online. The exam is scheduled to be held on February 5, 2023.

Candidates may note that the exam consists of Creative Ability Test (CAT) for both B.Des and B.FTech whereas General Ability Test (GAT) will be for B.Des only. Candidates qualified for B.Des have to face a status test before selection.

NIFT also offers Masters in Design and Fashion Technology. The exam structure for these courses is also similar to that offered at the undergraduate level. Every year around 25,000 candidates take the NIFT entrance exam for admission to undergraduate programs – B.Des and B.FTech at 16 NIFT campuses.

National Institute of Fashion Technology has conducted the NIFT entrance exam to prepare the list of candidates for admission to the design programs offered by it. The application forms for the entrance exam of NIFT are available.

On the basis of NIFT exam, candidates can get Bachelor of Design (BDes), Bachelor of Fashion Technology (BFTech), Master of Design (MDes), Master of Fashion Management (MFM) and Master of Fashion Technology (MFTech).

BDS and MDS course is three tier in its format for admission. Candidates are first required to appear for the Creative Ability Test (CAT) followed by the Common Aptitude Test (GAT) as part of the NIFT entrance exam.

The final admission round for BDS course is Situation Test and for MDeS is GD/PI round. On the other hand, BFTech course admission requires candidates to appear for GAT only whereas for MFTech and MFM programs candidates need to appear for GAT and GD/PI admission rounds.

NIFT Entrance Exam Process

NIFT is popular across the country for its design, management and technology programs at its 16 centers. Candidates will be eligible for secure admission in NIFT on the basis of rank secured in the entrance test. The steps that candidates need to follow to secure admission in any of the design courses offered at NIFT campuses are listed below:

Step 1: Fill NIFT Entrance Exam Application Form

Candidates can fill the NIFT Entrance Exam Application Form online at the official website of the School of Design. Candidates have to pay their application fee by credit/debit card or the same can be paid through Demand Draft (DD). Applicants are advised to keep a print out / photo copy of their NIFT Entrance Test Application Form along with the proof of payment.

Step 2: Download NIFT Admit Card

After duly filling the application form, candidates have to download their NIFT Entrance Exam Admit Card from the official website of NIFT. Candidates are informed that they have to download their admit card from the official website only and no separate communication will be sent to them by post.

Step 3: Give NIFT Entrance Exam

As part of NIFT entrance exam, candidates are assessed on various parameters such as aptitude, skills and knowledge. Due to this, NIFT entrance exam is usually divided into four sections which are – Creative Ability Test (CAT), General Ability Test (GAT), Situation Test and Group Discussion/ Personal Interview.
