Eligibility for CTET : Candidates having the following minimum educational qualification are eligible to appear in CTET

CTET INFORMATION:

The notification for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) to be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has been released. So if you want to teach class I to VIII students and want to appear for CTET then you must already know about the eligibility criteria of CTET because candidates who fail to fulfill these eligibility criteria will appear for CTET. will not be able to apply.

Qualification for CTET

Minimum qualification for CTET to become a teacher for class IV:

Candidate who has completed Senior Secondary or its equivalent examination with minimum 50% marks and appearing or appearing in final year examination of Diploma in Elementary Education (2 years duration).

either

Candidate who has completed Senior Secondary or its equivalent examination and securing minimum 45% marks and appeared in final year examination of Diploma in Elementary Education (2 years duration) as per NCTE Regulations 2002.

either

Candidate who has completed Senior Secondary or its equivalent examination with minimum 50% marks and appearing or appearing in final year examination of Bachelor of Elementary Education (4 years duration).

Candidate who has completed Senior Secondary or its equivalent examination with minimum 50% marks and appearing or appearing in final year examination of Diploma in Education (2 years duration).

Candidate who has a Bachelor’s degree and has appeared or passed the final year examination of Diploma in Elementary Education (2 years duration).

Minimum qualification for CTET to become a teacher for classes VI-VIII:

Candidate who possesses Graduation degree and passed or appearing in final year examination of Diploma in Elementary Education (2 years duration).

Candidate who has completed his/her Bachelor’s degree with 50% marks and appearing or appearing in final year examination in Bachelor of Education.

either

Candidate who has completed his/her Bachelor’s degree with 40% marks and appearing or passed final year Bachelor of Education examination as per NCTE rules.

either

Candidate who has completed Senior Secondary or its equivalent examination with minimum 50% marks and appearing or passed final year examination of Bachelor of Elementary Education of 4 years duration.

either

Candidate who has completed Senior Secondary or its equivalent examination with 50% marks and appearing in final year of BAEd / B.Sc.Ed or BA / B.Sc.Ed.

either

Candidate who have Bachelor’s degree with 50% marks and passed or appearing in B.Ed of 1 year duration.

Important Points Regarding CTET Qualification:

Some important points to note about CTET eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • A relaxation of 5% is given to the applicants belonging to the reserved categories i.e. SC/ ST/ OBC/ PwD.
  • Only Diploma/Degree courses in Education recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) will be taken into consideration.
  • Only Diploma in Education (Special Education) and B.Ed (Special Education) recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) will be taken into account.
  • The minimum qualification mentioned above is for teachers of various subjects. In the case of teachers for physical education, the minimum eligibility criteria specified in the NCTE regulation as amended from time to time will be applicable. For teachers of Arts, Crafts, Home Science, Work Education, etc., the existing eligibility criteria prescribed by the State Governments and other school managements shall continue to be applicable till such time the NCTE prescribes minimum qualifications in respect of such teachers.
  • A person who is currently pursuing any education course recognized by NCTE or RCI is eligible to appear in CTET.

So, now you all know CTET. If you do not comply with the CTET eligibility (CTET qualifying marks for OBC category), your candidature will be cancelled. If you have applied for the exam, then you should start your preparation as soon as possible.
