In the Salt Lake area of West Bengal, the candidates of Teacher Eligibility Test 2014 are continuously protesting at the State Board of Primary Education. West Bengal Education Minister Bratya Basu has appealed to the agitating candidates to end the protest. He said that some political parties are provoking this protest further. They want this impasse to continue.
He asked whether it is possible that every candidate appearing in the examination passes and gets admitted. Does everyone get a job in NET, NEET, WB JEE, HEVN panel at the very beginning. He said these things on the demand being made by the candidates regarding direct recruitment. Basu alleged that the agitation was fueled by those who did not want to allow the recruitment process to begin.
Exam will be conducted with strictness and fairness
The Education Minister said that I have not been forced to follow anyone’s instructions. The entire recruitment process will be conducted on the basis of merit in a fair and strictly manner. He asked whether the agitators were not in favor of the examination to be conducted on the basis of merit. Don’t they want the whole process to happen without any political pressure?
The candidates alleged
Meanwhile, an agitating candidate alleged that the 2014 TET recruitment was not done on the basis of merit. So it was not right to do two rounds of interview. The candidates who cleared the preliminary examination of 2014 were called for interview but many of them did not find place in the merit list after two rounds of interview. Which the candidates are agitating about.
Supreme Court rejects TMC MLA’s petition
The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed a petition filed by the ED against the arrest of Trinamool Congress MLA Manik Bhattacharya in connection with alleged irregularities in primary teacher recruitment in West Bengal. A bench of Justices Aniruddha Bose and Vikram Nath refused to interfere in the ED’s arrest. Bhattacharya was arrested by the ED in connection with the alleged irregularities in the recruitment of primary teachers. He was questioned overnight on October 11. After which action was taken against them. Manik Bhattacharya has been the former chairman of the West Bengal Board of Primary Education. He was arrested for allegedly not cooperating with the investigation. Presently he is the TMC MLA from Palashipara assembly constituency in Nadia district.
